Bio :
In the year of 1585, England was becoming a superpower. It had already defeated the Spanish Navy and asserted itself as the most powerful naval country in the world. The Catholic Church had been split in to several other factions. France and Italy had become countries of the arts. And like always, on the shores of the Emerald Isle life was going on much as it had for the last thousand years. Fiona O'Connell was a druid priestess, one of the few left who supported the old ways, let alone know anything about them. However, in the public's eye she was a seamstress. Michael de Marin was a loyal Catholic merchant, a fabric merchant to be exact. The two had met when the young man had brought a shipment of fabric to the shop of the seamstress. From that moment, the two were in love.

Within eight years the two had married, enduring the hardships of being of two very different religions. They put their differences aside for the love they felt for each other, and ignored the ridicules from the druids and the Church. On their eight anniversary Fiona bore a son. Wanting to have a Celtic name, she christened him 'Fintan' , which meant "White Fire". But knowing that he would never be accepted in society with that as a name she they named him "Fintan Michael de Marin", often calling him Michael in public. The boy grew up in the Catholic Church, but also was instructed in the lore of Old Ireland. The two blended within him, and brought back the oldest faith within him, a belief that Avalon and Heaven existed side by side. This would govern his actions until the end of his existence, and would later save his life.

This, like most times in Irish history, was a hard time for Irish families. Money was scares, and most were saving up money to go to the New World, but the de Marin family didn't have to worry about that. Queen Elizabeth had just charged Michael and his wife Fiona with constructing her a gown to celebrate the coming of the new century. She paid them much more than the normal price, a startling fifty Pounds. More than ten times the normal Irish income.

The de Marins had the gown ready three months in advance, they took the opportunity to take it and present it to the Queen themselves. They were given a fond welcome in London, and at Buckingham Palace. While final alterations were made to the gown, Fintan and Queen Elizabeth grew fond of each other, becoming good friends. One guard reports the young man holding the queen up as if he was a highwayman while they played one evening. The family stayed there through the New Year, which was the most spectacular thing that young Fintan had ever seen. As one final reward she awarded the de Marins with a family crest - a silver version of the Tudor Rose. This reward was given on a cloak that was given to Michael that was to go to Fintan when he was old enough. The de Marins set out the next day to go back to Ireland.

While traveling back home over the Cork Mountains, ill fate struck the thus far lucky family. A group of seven bandits blocked the path, blades drawn. Fintan did not have time to know what was going on as his mother picked him up and started to run in to the forest near by when Michael pushed her towards them. Unfortunately one of the bandits had taken a pistol off of someone they had robbed previously and was able to shoot the running woman. However, he had poor aim and only winged her leg, making her trip with her son in her arms. Fintan was told to run to the forest and hide. Reluctantly he did what he was told as he saw the pistolier cut down by his father. From within the woods he prayed to both Avalon and Heaven for help, but no help came and he could hear his father's dying yell. He heard his mother screaming, he didn't look to see what was happening. If he had, he would be more haunted by it today that he already is. He remained hidden as the sound of marching steps sounded. A platoon of English soldiers were marching to Cork and came upon the scene. Before they could apprehend the bandits they fled. Fintan emerged from his hiding spot. He picked up the long pistol held by the dead bandit and vowed then and there to avenge his parents.

The soldiers took him to a monastery to stay until he was old enough he could be let out on the world. The monastery was out near a forest and meadows, where the boy would venture out and spend his days in wonder. It was on his fifteenth birthday when he was showed the hidden secretes of Old Ireland, the remaining leprechauns, elves, fairies, and sprites showed themselves to him. They could tell just by how he treated nature, which was always with respect, that he had bloodlines tied with the Old Ways. The elves offered Fintan a gift for a reward for keeping the Old Ways alive. He asked them to teach him to fight. The monks didn’t have swords, but he knew the elves would. “Teach me to use a blade, and shoot a pistol.” were his exact words. The elves were peaceful, and they used their weapons only for defense, but they agreed. It never occurred to any of them that they were training a soldier and highwayman.

He trained for the next seven years, and when he was twenty two a messenger from the past came to him. A large bear like creature, three times the size of a normal grizzly, with a feline shaped face, horns on it’s head that grew over six feet long. The elves never took their bows off of it, while Fintan just backed away. The bugbear urged Fintan to come with him, that he would not be harmed because it’s master favored the young man. Reluctantly Fintan followed. The beast stopped in front of a stone archway in the middle of the forest. He finally spoke in clear words. “Through here, Clerin will welcome you to your destiny.” Fintan stepped through hesitantly.

The world was like nothing he had ever seen before, it’s beauty and wonder had no equal. Even the dark presence of the man in a dark black cloak with glowing red eyes who was giving off feelings of dread and disperse wondered the Irishman. The presence said only one thing to Fintan. “Follow this path, enlist in the service of Queen Boudicca, your parents will be avenged.” A dark path formed in front of Fintan and the man vanished. Fintan did as he was told and followed the path to a city that was being fortified for what must have been war. He immediately enlisted as a soldier in the Queen’s army. He served for thirty years, helping the country of Arelia to become a powerful country. Though during this time, during the battle of Broine he fell to twenty arrows that riddled his chest. He slipped in to a comma where he stayed for a week. When he awoke, he seemed as if he had not been touched. It was three years before he saw combat again. That time, it was during the Vampire Wars. In the mountains of Oric, he was captured by a raiding party. Held for a week before the monsters tried to drain and turn him. They failed drastically, they could never drink the last drop of blood. When he was rescued by his unit they were un-trusting of him, because they knew he had the bite marks. As a result he was put at the back of the column as they went back to Prechan. It was then he was attacked, a vicious boucan, mauled and torn to pieces. Yet somehow, he survived this as well. The Boar Unit was startled and amazed. It seemed that death either could not, or would not claim the soldier.

After hearing the tales, he became trusted by the queen who seemed to believe that someone of divine power was watching over him. Fintan was given governor ship of the Prechan region. During times of peace he would be in charge of the laws and ruling of it, though during war he must surrender that power to the Gryphon Protector of the land. But this did not last long. Within a month, the queen was accused of being unfaithful to her unfaithful husband, who had no real power. Never the less he had her tried for this, which was a crime for nobility. Fintan remained loyal and defended her, threatening anyone who spoke against her with the gallows or the chop on grounds of treason. Camdules, Boudicca’s husband, had Fintan arrested for treason. The courts could not do anything about Boudicca, as she was queen, leaving her to be exiled. One month later, Fintan was lead to the gallows. It was the first time the idea of corruption came in to Fintan’s mind. His last words as the rope was fit around him were “If I am a rogue for remaining loyal, then so be it. But I will not rot in Infrean for treason!” The rope was quickly taunt. They removed him the next day, and hauled his corpse to the sea where he was sealed in a chest with his weapons and some clothes, as was tradition, and thrown in. But death would still not claim Fintan ‘Rogue’ de Marin. He still had work to do. He washed up on the shores of the Westlands.
